In today’s complex world, business disputes increasingly require the valuation of tangible and intangible assets, the calculation of future lost profits and/or the quantification of diminution in value of business interests. Corporations and their legal counsel must have detailed and precise business valuation analyses that can withstand legal scrutiny and rigorous cross-examination.
In this course Angel Facundo and Hank Kahrs of RGL Forensics try to demystify business valuations as they provide an overview of the methods used to determine the proper value of a business. The main topics discussed include the use of business valuation reports, the examination of financial statements, business valuation methods and the most common errors found in valuation reports. Further business valuation issues covered include the date of valuation, standards of value, the documents needed to perform a business valuation, potential perquisites, capitalization rate, the asset based valuation method, the market valuation method, the income based method, the P/E ratio, the excess earning approach, elements required to be considered in a valuation and common valuation errors.
Mr. Facundo has over nine years of professional experience in forensic accounting. He focuses his practice on the calculation of economic damages, assisting on litigation matters, business valuations and a vast array of business interruption claims.
