What does practicing law with professionalism mean to you? The Georgia Supreme Court has recognized professionalism as the “ultimate hallmark of the practice of law” and the foundation of our adversarial legal system.

This CLE course will provide an overview of professionalism standards, guidelines and resources to help Georgia attorneys aspire to higher standards of conduct to practice with professionalism on a daily basis. The main resources discussed include the Georgia Lawyers Creed, the Georgia Aspirational Statements on Professionalism, the Core Concepts of Professionalism for Georgia Attorneys and the Georgia Professionalism CLE Guidelines. The following case examples and scenarios will also be explored: zealous advocacy vs. professionalism, racist & sexist jokes in the office, communicating with clients in the social media age, communicating with unresponsive opposing counsel, advising clients of your professional duty to be professional and civil and serving your community through pro bono work.

As an attorney and Director of Legal Education with Attorney Credits, Jason Castillo researches diverse legal topics to create CLE courses with significant intellectual and practical content. He has created numerous courses on pertinent topics, including elder abuse reporting, legal ethics, malpractice, elimination of bias and other legal subjects.
