Paul Kushner of Pete Fowler Construction Services reviews the fundamentals of professionalism in building inspection and testing by utilizing case studies, horror stories, and standards review. This is the second part of a presentation initially delivered by Pete Fowler. Mr. Kushner describes the framework that now exists that ensures conformance with consensus standards like the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E2018 Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments, ASTM E2128 Standard Guide for Evaluating Water Leakage of Building Walls, and ASTM E 1105 Standard Test Method for Water Penetration of Windows. Visual inspection, testing, performance analysis and reporting take experience, training and hard work, but there are standards that set the bar for excellence in professional practice – these are all reviewed in this program.

Mr. Kushner is a California licensed architect with 20 years experience in the design and development of residential construction projects with an extensive background in coordinating and leading multi-disciplined complex construction litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. This includes planning and directing of invasive testing programs, analysis of collected interdisciplinary inspection data, preparation of scopes of work, coordinating cost estimates, and providing expert testimony and exhibits for mediations and arbitrations.
